Parents accompany children in the water, the class introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water.

Ages 6 months up to 3 years old

Stage 1: Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into the water. This stage lays the foundation that allows for a student’s future progress in the water.

Stage 2: Students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water while also continuing to practice how to safely enter and exit in the event of falling into a body of water.

Ages 3-6 years old

Students will develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage will lay the foundation for future progressions. Students will focus on body position, control, directional change, and forward movement in the water.

For children ages 6-12

In stage 2, students learn how to swim with forward movement in the water and basic self-rescue skills in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage builds off of the skills learned in stage 1, while also introducing new skills like treading water.

   In stage 3, students learn how to swim longer distances, rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.

2. In stage 4, students develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Proficient stage for swimmers will be invited to our beginning level of swim team where they will work on stroke technique and learn all major competitive strokes.

Must be at least 6 years old for this class, no exceptions.
