The Mako Sharks group is open to new and returning eight and under swimmers and new 9-10-year-old swimmers.  This level focuses on the four competitive strokes, starts, and finishes.

The balance of practice is 80% technique and 20% endurance.

For any swimmers entered in the Middle Atlantic 10 & Under Championships at Cumberland Valley on March 1, 2026, practices will extend through February 26, and an additional fee will apply.

Monday-Thursday:  5:45-6:30 p.m.

All swimmers must be YMCA members.

The Tiger Shark group is open to advanced 8 & under, 9-10, and new 11-12-year-old  swimmers.  This level focuses on the four competitive strokes, plus the Individual Medley, starts, turns, and finishes.

The balance of practice will be 70% technique and 30% endurance.

The Blue Sharks group is open to advanced 9-10-year-old and returning 11-15-year-old swimmers.   This level focuses on advanced technique for the four competitive strokes plus the Individual Medley, starts, turns, and finishes.

The balance of practice is 60% endurance and 40% technique.

This group is for swimmers between the ages of 13 & 18 who do not practice regularly with a high school team.  Practice begins on Monday, October 13, 2024, and runs through Friday, February 20, 2026..

The High School Sharks group is open to swimmers in 9-12 grades who regularly practice with their high school team.  This level focuses on advanced techniques for the four competitive strokes, plus the Individual Medley, starts, turns, and finishes. Swimmers registered for this group will practice with the Sharks until high school practice begins.  Once high school practice begins, they may practice with this group up to twice a week.

The balance of practice is 70% endurance and 30% technique.

Monday-Thursday:  6:30-8:15 p.m.
Friday:  5:30-6:30 p.m.

All swimmers must be YMCA members.

Competitive Swimming is an excellent sport for kids of all ages!  Try the team for two weeks and see if it’s a good fit!

All swimmers will need a bathing suit, goggles, a cap for long hair, and a towel.  We also recommend wearing flip-flops or slides in the locker rooms and on the pool deck.

If your child decides to join the team, the $35 Two-Week Trial fee will be applied to the team fee.
