Swim - Gettysburg - Sharks - Swim Team
Since 1984, the Sharks have been swimming at the Y, here in Gettysburg.
The team is open to youth between the ages of 5 and 18 who can demonstrate the following:
Ages 10 & Under: 25 meters each of freestyle and backstroke
Ages 11 & Over: 50 meters each of freestyle and backstroke
The team will compete in the Capital Area Swim League for the Summer 2026 season.

June 27 Dover Area Aquatic Club @ HOME

July 11 Mechanicsburg Swim Club @ HOME
Our championship series will begin with Divisionals on Saturday, July 18, followed by All-Stars on Sunday, July 19, and conclude with Mid-Caps on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Our end-of-season banquet will be held on Sunday, July 26th

Level 1/Mako
Practices begin Monday, May 4th
M, T, W, TH 545-630pm
There will be no practice on Friday 5/22, Monday, 5/25, Friday 5/29, or Friday, 7/3.
Other dates may pop up due to facility issues, storms, special team events, etc.
This level is designed for new and returning 8 & under swimmers and new 9-10-year-old swimmers and focuses on the four competitive strokes, starts, and finishes. The makeup of practice will be 80% technique and 20% endurance. Practice recommendation 2-3 practices/week.

This level is designed for advanced 8 & under, 9-10, and new 11-12-year-old swimmers will focus on the four competitive strokes plus the individual medley, starts, turns, and finishes. The balance of practice will be 70% technique and 30% endurance.

Two-Week Trial
Welcome to the Sharks’ Two-Week Trial!
During this trial period, we encourage you to bring your child to as many practices as possible so they can get a real feel for the team. They will need a bathing suit, a towel, a pair of goggles, and a swim cap if their hair is long enough to reach their eyes.
Practices will be Monday-Thursday 545-630pm.

If your child decides to join the team, they must be or become a YMCA member, and the membership must remain current through July 24, 2026. The $35 you paid for the two-week trial will be credited toward their team fee for the season.

USA-Pre-Season
USA practice begins on Monday, April 20, 2026.
If you are doing the USA meet, you must register.
This fee covers 2-weeks pre-season & meet time.
This is IN ADDITION to your regular level fee. Both must be paid.
Times are as follows:
Monday-Thursday: 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Friday: 5:30-6:30 p.m. No Practice on Friday 5/1.
After the 2 weeks, all swimmers must be registered for FULL Sharks Level 1-4.
