Water Acclimation : Level 1
Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into the water. This stage lays the foundation that allows for a student’s future progress in the water.
Water Movement: Level 2
Students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water while also continuing to practice how to safely enter and exit in the event of falling into a body of water.
Water Stamina: Level 3
Students learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance than in previous stages in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.
Stroke Introduction: Level 4
Students develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke.
Swimming FAQs
No — mastery of strokes is not required to join. Swimmers should be able to demonstrate basic freestyle, backstroke, and diving fundamentals, along with a general understanding of breaststroke and butterfly.
Our wrist band policy ensures every child can remain safe while swimming in our pools. Every child ages 3-14 must complete a swim test at time of membership. Children will be given a colored wrist band to wear in the water that allows our lifeguards and staff to quickly identify their level of comfort in the water. Learn more about our policy.
