Parent/Child Programs
We have two Parent/Child Programs, on e for the 6-23 month old child and one for the 24-36 month old child. This 30-minute class is for children and their parents. The primary objective is to get both the parent and child comfortable in the water. The child will become aware of the differences between moving through water and on dry land, while the parent will become aware of how to teach his or her child to be safer in and around the water. Classes are designed to allow the child to have fun in the water while the parent guides him or her to learn aquatic skills. The child will be exposed to games that use basic movements in the water, such as kicking, arm strokes, and breath control. Activities are based on the developmental abilities of the child.
Pike
Ages 3-5 years
Beginner swim class for 3 to 5 year olds. Learn beginner skills including flutter kick, alternating arms & back floats. Develop skills to swim independently.
Eel
Ages 3-5 years
Able to swim independently approximately 5 yards and float on back. Improve front crawl and learn back float with flutter kick.
Ray
Ages 3-5 years
Must pass Eel level and be able to swim independently 10 yards. Learn front crawl stroke with side breathing, back crawl & elementary backstrokes. Begin diving and develop deep water confidence.
Starfish
Ages 3-5 years Must pass Ray level and be able to swim freestyle, back stroke & elementary back stroke at least 15 yards. Must have deep water confidence. Strengthen all strokes and diving. Introduction to breast stroke and treading water. Build endurance to 25 yards.
Polliwog
Ages 6 and up Intro level for beginner swimmers. Learn beginner skills including flutter kick, front crawl stroke & back float with flutter kick. Develop skills to swim independently.
Guppy
Ages 6 and up Must pass Polliwog level & be able to swim 15 yards. Learn front crawl with rotary breathing, backstroke, and elementary backstroke. Develop deep water confidence.
Minnow
Ages 6 and up Must pass Guppy level & have deep water confidence. Strengthen crawl stroke with rotary breathing, back crawl and elementary backstroke. Begin diving and treading water. Build endurance to 25 yards.
Fish
Ages 6 and up Must pass Minnow level and be able to swim 75-100 yards. Refine and build endurance in front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Refine diving and treading water. Introduce breaststroke.
Flying Fish
Ages 6 and up Must pass Fish level & be able to swim 100-250 yards. Refine and build endurance in crawl, back crawl and breaststroke. Introduce butterfly and diving from the blocks.
Shark
Ages 6 and up Must pass Flying Fish level & be able to swim 500 yards. Strengthening of all strokes. Refine diving from blocks, learn starts, flip turns and side stroke.
